What this issue means
Front matter, Roman numerals and unnumbered chapter openers require context. The checker reports suspicious sequences and page-side evidence rather than renumbering the book automatically.
What BookPreflight checks
- Odd/even folio side
- Roman and Arabic numbering transitions
- Missing, duplicate or inconsistent visible numbers
How to correct the source file
- 1
Define numbering sections in the editable source.
- 2
Check master-page assignment at section boundaries.
- 3
Review intentional blank and chapter-opening pages manually.
Verify the exported PDF, not the preset name
Keep the editable source and original PDF. Export a new file, run the complete scan again and review every remaining finding. A repair is only labelled safe after loss checks and a full deterministic post-flight.
