KDP error guide
Find print marks that should not be submitted
Detect crop, registration and other printer marks that should not be part of the submitted book PDF.
Technically reviewed · September 1, 2026
What this issue means
Marks can enlarge page content or remain visible beyond trim. The report points to the affected edges so the export preset can be corrected at the source.
What BookPreflight checks
- Crop, registration and color-bar patterns
- Marks outside or crossing trim
- Page-box changes caused by mark export
How to correct the source file
- 1
Disable printer marks in the PDF export dialog.
- 2
Keep required bleed without adding marks.
- 3
Verify the exported MediaBox and trim again.
Verify the exported PDF, not the preset name
Keep the editable source and original PDF. Export a new file, run the complete scan again and review every remaining finding. A repair is only labelled safe after loss checks and a full deterministic post-flight.
